Plan your Elterngeld split before the form goes in the post

Set how many months each of you takes and what a full Basiselterngeld month is worth, and the board lays the plan out over your child's Lebensmonate, checks it against the rules, and adds up what it pays.

Months 1 and 2 are normally spoken for by Mutterschutz, which is counted as Basiselterngeld whether you apply for it or not.

The board assumes neither of you earns anything in the months you draw, which is the only case where an ElterngeldPlus month is exactly half a Basis month. Work part time and both numbers change, usually in ElterngeldPlus's favour. For the euro amount itself, use the federal Elterngeldrechner, then bring it back here.
